Advancing Functional Neurosurgery Together | President’s Welcome
Dear ASSFN Members,
As I reflect on our recent Biennial Meeting, I am filled with gratitude and pride for what we accomplished together as a society. Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our meeting organizers, faculty, exhibitors, and attendees, we hosted a record-breaking meeting that exceeded expectations in both participation and scientific content. Particular thanks go to Scientific Program Committee Chair, Dr. Rushna Ali, and our host, Past-President Dr. Andre Machado.
The energy throughout the conference was remarkable. From cutting-edge research, thought-provoking presentations, and invaluable networking opportunities, the meeting showcased the strength, innovation, and collaborative spirit that define the American Society for Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery. Most importantly, it reinforced our shared commitment to advancing the field and improving the lives of the patients we serve.
This newsletter highlights several exciting initiatives that extend our impact beyond the meeting itself. I encourage you to explore the expanding ASSFN webinar and podcast series, which continues to provide members with accessible discussions featuring leaders in our field. These conversations offer valuable perspectives on clinical advances, career growth, and the future of functional neurosurgery.
Finally, I invite you to learn more about the ASSFN Research Fund. Investing in research is investing in the future of our field. The discoveries and innovations that transform patient care begin with ideas that deserve support. Through the generosity of our members and supporters, we can continue to foster the next generation of investigators and accelerate progress in stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.
I humbly write this knowing that I follow in the footsteps of so many greats of our field. Among them, Dr. Julie Pilitsis whose leadership expanded the impact of our organization. As we build on this momentum, I am excited for what lies ahead. ASSFN is stronger than ever, and our future is bright because of the talent, passion, and commitment of our membership. It is an honor to be entrusted with the leadership of this esteemed organization. Our society continues to grow because of the dedication, generosity, and engagement of its members.
Thank you for your continued engagement and support of our society.
Sincerely,

Ellen L. Air, MD, PhD
