Where We’re Going: ASSFN strategic plan
Conceptually, strategic planning is a process for defining the direction of an organization, so that it can better make decisions and allocate resources to achieve its desired goals. Beginning in Spring 2020, the ASSFN Board began a comprehensive review of its mission and strategy. After evaluating surveys from ASSFN members and key strategic stakeholders, and considering our mission and vision, we formulated a strategic plan that focuses on three key areas of engagement: Research, Education, and Advocacy.
Organizational goals were then defined and organized according to the areas of engagement they serve. Below is a summary of some of the ASSFN’s engagement areas and organizational goals that are currently being addressed. The full list of our priorities and plan may be found on our website.
ASSFN Priorities
- In the area of Research, we are working on a mentoring program for young researchers, developing a research funding plan, and facilitating the acquisition of external funding for members.
- In Education, we are establishing an understanding of the needs of the beneficiary groups served, implementing a curriculum of educational opportunities, and developing educational content.
- Regarding Advocacy, we establish are establishing regulatory priorities, maintaining current guidelines for clinical relevance to members, and discussing the development of new guidelines.
- As for our governance and operations plan, we are aligning our vision and mission, building effective digital communications (website, expanding social media), and increasing the diversity of our membership and board.
As can be appreciated, our strategic plan includes many initiatives in different areas. We can always use the help of members who wish to volunteer. Learn more about applying for volunteer service with ASSFN.
