Access Clinical Resources for Members
ICYMI, two new clinical resources for the ASSFN members are now available: new patient education materials and letters templates for functional neurosurgery procedures. Log into your ASSFN member portal to access these materials.
New Patient Education Materials
ASSFN has created clear, patient-friendly educational materials designed to support conversations in functional neurosurgery clinics. These resources explain both conditions—including chronic pain and trigeminal neuralgia—and procedures, such as deep brain stimulation (DBS) and temporal lobectomy for epilepsy, in language patients and families can easily understand.
Materials are available in web-based text and downloadable PDF formats. All resources are free to ASSFN members and accessible through the ASSFN website using your member login.
Letter Templates for Functional Neurosurgery Procedures
Navigating prior authorizations and insurance appeals remains a real-world challenge in functional neurosurgery. To support members on this point, ASSFN has developed customizable letter templates addressing procedures that frequently require additional justification.
Available through the ASSFN member portal, examples include letters for:
- Psychiatric neurosurgical procedures
- DBS for tardive dystonia
- Laser interstitial thermal therapy (LITT) for epilepsy
- Neuromodulation approaches for facial pain
Because coverage requirements vary by patient and payer, these templates are designed to be adapted and individualized to fit your clinical scenario.
ASSFN thanks the dedicated volunteers and members who developed these resources. Their work directly supports ASSFN members in delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.
